Yajurveda
YAJURVEDA
The word Yajusha means 'Yajna'. Yergveda is basically the ritual book. Its composition is believed to be in Kurukshetra.
A glimpse of the religious and social life of the Aryans is found in the Yajurveda. This text shows that Arya had moved beyond 'Sapta Sandhava' and was becoming indifferent to natural worship.
The priests chanted ‘Adhvurya’ chanted the mantras of Yergveda. In this Veda, methods of performing many types of Yajna are mentioned. It is written both in prose and verse. The prose has been called 'Yajush'.
The last chapter of Yajurveda is Ishavasya Upanishayad, which deals with spiritual thinking.This Upanishads are considered primitive in Upanishads as no other Upanishads are part of the Code except this.
Features of Yajurveda
The Yajurveda are prophetic.
The phantom chants called in Yajna are called ‘Yajus’.
The Yajurveda scriptural mantras are derived from the Rigveda or Atharva Veda.
There are very few independent poetic mantras among them.
The Yajurveda has rules and ordinances of Yajnas and Havans.
